Wild Card Updates

Lately, 4 players from non-competitive group reported to me that they accidentally chose non-competitive option in their application. They have played competitive leagues before. It is too late to reschedule the matches but to make sure that the better players are not left out, those players who really stand out in non-competitive league will be given wild cards to compete for the final 2 quarterfinal spots of the competitive league. The selection will be done by the league co-ordinator and the club officials based upon the players’ records and head to head stats. The league coordinator’s decision will be final.
For the competitive league, the top 2 players from Group A,B and C will automatically qualify for the quarterfinal spots. The third ranked player in each group will then compete with the outstanding players from non-competitive league in a mini round robin league. The top two players will then take the final two spots in quarterfinals round.

Week 11: Finals
Tables at Rec Center will be available Mon - Thu ( 7 p.m. - 10 p.m.) and Sat - Sun (10:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.). We have 3 tables in the rec center. Two tables are good and the third table has a crack through it. It can be used for warm -up. However, if both parties consider the table to be acceptable, the actual league match can also be played on it.Since non- competitive league matches are played on Tue / Thu, the tables will be allocated as follows:
MON - All 3 tables - Competitive League
TUE- Table 1 - Competitve ;Table 2 - Non-Competitive;Table 3 (with a crack on it)- Warm Up
WED- All 3 tables - Competitive League
THU - All 3 tables - Non- Competitive League
Players are respnsible to fold the tables and put them back against the wall after the last matches are played. The barriers should also be removed from the playing area and put near the table. That area is shared by Table Tennis League and fitness classes, so we should remove all our materials from there after each day’s play.
The winner is responsible to email the scores to the co-ordinator after the match is played. If both parties decide to play it during the make up time, the coordiantor should be notified. If the match is not played or the coordinator is not notified about the make up, both players will be given 0 points for that match.
Weekends or the Make Up week can be used for makeups. The tables are available from 10:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
The unlock code for the tables can be obtained from the front desk. Players are expected to bring their own paddles. However, basic paddles are available at the front desk if needed. All materials borrowed from the front desk (paddles, balls etc.) should be returned to the front desk after the matches are over.
The bracket for Quater -finals, Semi -finals and Finals will be posted in the website after the completion of Round -Robin matches.

The matches will be played according to ITTF rules (The Laws of Table Tennis Handbook). Please see the attachment for the detail rules.
5. The winners will be awarded 2 points and losers 0.
6. Competitive Category - The top 2 players from Group A, B and C will advance to the Quarter- final round. The third ranked player from each of the three groups will play Wild card round robin matches to fill in the remaining 2 spots in the quaterfinal round. In case of a tie, the player with a win over the other player who is equal on points will advance to the next round. If still equal ( if the scheduled match was not played and the players shared the points ), the player with highest Win-Loss Difference will advance to the next round. If still equal, the co-ordinator will schedule a one-off elimination match between the two players.
Non- competitive category: The top four players from each group will advance to the Quarter - Final round.
Quarter -final, semi -final and finals are knockout matches.
7. If the player leaves the league, before completing his/her scheduled matches, opponent will be awarded 2 points each for the matches that were not played before the next round.
8. Schedule Conflict/ Forfeit Rules: While the coordinators make the best attempt to schedule the matches, it is the player’s responsibility to complete their matches before the current round ends. In case of a schedule conflict, please contact your opponent in advance, and see if you can reschedule. Rescheduling has to be done 24 hours prior to the scheduled match. A NO-Show, without prior communication, will be a FORFEIT and the opponent will be awarded 2 points while the absentees get 0 points. NO SHOWS can be declared if the player is not ready to play 15 minutes after the scheduled starting time.
9. If the rescheduled match (agreed by both players) cannot be played before the next round, both players will be awarded 1 point each.
10. The winner is responsible to email the match results to League coordinator.
11. The league official will set up a schedule for the entire season with assigned weeks for match play after the registration deadline. The draw can be found in league’s website. Once you review the order of play, you and the other party are both responsible for contacting each other and complete the match and report the result to league coordinator.
12. Any round-robin match can be played during any of the first eight weeks of round robin (or make up week).
13. Quarterfinals, semifinals and finals must be played on the designated week as scheduled. If the match is not completed by Sunday of the week scheduled for that match, the Table Tennis League Coordinator will determine the player to advance to the next round based on ranking and head-to-head stats.
14. Players are expected to have their own racquets. However the recreational center front desk will have the basic racquets if needed.
Please check League website for day/time of your match.
Good sportsmanship is expected at all times or players could be removed from the league! Let’s keep it fun for all. —Nirmal
